You Can Do It; We Can Help

Instructional Technology Working Together With Librarians

One goal of Rockwall ISD is for instructional technology specialists to work closely with district librarians. These web pages serve as a resource to help facilitate that effort.

Philosophy:
While teachers are the content experts, librarians are the learning resource experts, and instructional technology specialists are hardware/software application integration experts. Many of the duties of both the librarian and ITS overlap, as in work citation, copyright issues, research methodology, and Internet information gathering; however, while the ITS may focus on the practical application of technology in one part of the lesson, the librarian may concentrate on developing valid research questions. Working together both can help teachers best integrate technology and information literacy TEKS into their respective curriculums.

What does today's library look like, and what role does technology play?
Technology and the Role of the Media Specialist

Teachers, librarians, and instructional technology specialist all have a role to play in technology integration and information literacy. The linked Venn diagram template can help identify each expert's role and the responsibilities that may overlap. Venn Template
